I just wanted to send a quick note about my Mom and her chemo this last round.
She had her last round of the cycle last Friday. The doctors did not lower her dosage because they felt like she was tolerating it well, and since this was the last chemo treatment before her testing/cat scan they wanted to keep it the same. Her potassium levels were good from her blood work, but her magnesium was low this time. Apparently they watch the magnesium levels during chemo because it could cause tremors if it is low. So therefore she got an hour worth of magnesium after her chemo and it should raise it back up. She has been extremely tired this last round and she still is. She seems to be having more bad days than good days as of right now. The tingling in her hands, feet and legs is lasting longer than previous treatments. (The tingling is from the chemo drug – oxiplatin, it is a normal side effect.) She has also been having headaches more frequently and longer lasting. Hopefully all this means that the drugs are working on the cancer and we will get GREAT news on the 28th of this month!!!
My Mom’s spirits are well. We still have our jokes every time we go down there and I tell her she gets sassier and sassier after each chemo treatment. We did get to do a little shopping before treatments and we had fun shopping for gifts! As always we both enjoy the shopping!
Thank you for the continued prayers, cards, emails and donations (for our marathon) over the past few weeks. We all appreciate each and every one of them!
We love you guys and thanks for the continued prayers as my Mom is fighting cancer!
