well, we have a new member of the family now. let me tell you, i'm not a big fan of spiders but this one likes to eat june bugs. and i hate june bugs worse. 
we had a meeting with Webbie (the name of our new friend) a few days back. it was a very productive meeting. Webbie had started moving from around the house and ended up on our back porch. at that time was when the meeting was scheduled. 
some brief notes of the meeting are as follows:
- the Dodd's and Webbie agreed to coexist as long as no hostile actions are taken by either side (intentionally)
- Webbie can eat all the insects available at any time
- Webbie cannot eat existing members of the family (me, Crystal, Miller, Pokey, Bido, and Keke) or any possible family members
- geckos that inhabit the Dodd patio must create their own agreement with Webbie
- further meetings might be scheduled to add amendments to existing rules or create new ones
as you can see from one of the pictures, Webbie is a happy go lucky kind of spider that pretty much keeps to herself (click link for info on Garden Spiders and how i knew it was a female http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argiope_aurantia). she has a rather nice smile also (see picture below)
that's it for now and i'll keep you updated as the relationship flourishes.

this is so funny! just fyi, webbie has LOTS of relatives at my house. so you can bring her to visit if you like!
